These two CDs,
issued by arrangement with Decca and in association with the British
Clavichord Society, include all the commercial clavichord recordings that
Thurston Dart ever made. Most of the tracks are derived from two LPs recorded in
stereo in January 1961 of Bach's French Suites
and a selection of suites and miscellaneous pieces by J. J. Froberger. In
a letter written to Martin Stafford in 1963 Dart described these as 'two of the
best discs I have ever made'. A further 23 minutes of music are added from mono
tracks recorded in 1958 and 1954

Five star rating in Goldberg
The reappearance of Dart's
marvellous recordings is most welcome and we should all be grateful for such an
important well-prepared reissue.
