The first ever CD of music by the English composer Robert Still (1910-1971), comprising the following recordings made in the 1950s:
- Quintet for Three Flutes, Violin & Cello from Argo RG 74 (1955)
- Viola Sonata No.2 from Argo RG 74 (1955)
- Six songs for Soprano (Heather Harper) from Record Society RS 60 (1959)
- Six songs for Baritone (John Carol Case) from Record Society RS 60 (1959)
- Two further songs recorded live at a Wigmore Hall Concert in October, 1959.
The accompanying 16-page booklet includes:
- Olga Lehmann’s original distinctive artwork for the sleeve of RG 74
- a portrait of the composer
- Deryck Cooke’s analytical notes for the chamber works
- a note on the composer by his widow, Mrs Elizabeth Still
- texts of all 14 songs.
